Mistakes That Can Be Made With Pool Chemicals

Today, we’ll be discussing errors that can be made while using pool chemicals.

Swimming pools, while overall serve as fun areas to enjoy cooling off on hot summer days, do come with a few dangers. Drowning might seem like the most obvious danger, but something else that needs to concern you is pool chemicals. If you don’t store and handle these chemicals correctly, people can get seriously hurt. Sometimes, even fatal results can occur. That’s why, today, we’ll be discussing errors that can be made while using pool chemicals. This way, you’ll know what mistakes to avoid making yourself.

Improper Storage

Some pool chemicals are volatile, which is why you need to store them in cool and dry locations that have plenty of ventilation. These chemicals should also not be exposed to moisture or direct sunlight, as these can turn your chemicals into something lethal! In addition to this, liquid chemicals must be kept separate from dry ones. Do NOT stack them together, even if it may seem more convenient to do so.

Mixing Pool Chemicals Together

Mixing pool chemicals is incredibly dangerous. This means you should never combine them together. Also, you must have a separate measuring cup for each chemical that you use. If you only use one measuring cup in total, the remnants of one pool chemical will get mixed with any new chemical you introduce. Lastly, don’t mix old and new chemicals together, even if they’re the same type of chemical. Once you’re done mixing pool chemicals, close their respective containers, and fasten the lids tightly to prevent these chemicals from leaking out.
