Saving Money When Getting a Pool Installation

Saving Money When Getting a Pool Installation

Read on for some tips you can consider for saving money on your new pool installation.

One great thing you can add to your home is a backyard pool. You’ll never again listen to whines of boredom or have to vow that you’d be exercising if only it weren’t so hot. Backyard pools offer fun, great exercise, and a relaxing oasis. The downside of a backyard pool is that it can be a fairly expensive addition to your home. Sometimes people try to limit the cost by opting for pre-fab or sticking to above-ground. While there’s nothing wrong with that, if your dream is a beautiful in-ground pool, you’ll have to find other ways to cut your pool budget, and even if you opt for above-ground, you may want to trim your budget anyway. Read on for some tips you can consider for saving money on your new pool installation.

Plan Ahead

Ordering and arranging for your new pool now is a great way to save money. Most people wait till closer to the summer to plan for a pool, and contractors book up quickly. There may also be price breaks on pool installation now that you can take advantage of.

Simplify

Find ways to simplify your design. For starters, drop the bells and whistles that you don’t really need, like fountains, slides, or integrated speakers. Next, consider going smaller to save money since everything from materials to labor will decrease when you go from a 20’x40′ to a 10’x20′. Finally, consider different materials, specifically vinyl instead of concrete or fiberglass.

Postpone Some Parts

If there are things that you can wait to purchase, hold off. For instance, a pool heater is nice, but you won’t really need it till next fall unless you really want to open your pool really early in the spring. Likewise, hold off on landscaping around the pool, so you don’t have to roll that into your initial budget.

Consider A Swimspa

While some people won’t consider a swim spa as a suitable replacement for a pool, it really does meet a lot of the same needs. It can still be used for exercise (and can be a relaxing hot tub as well), but since they typically aren’t in-ground, it costs much less to install. A swim spa is also much more economical to run and maintain – and you can use it year-round, so you get your money’s worth.
